Using Signs to Drive Business

Businesses need signs. Well, perhaps a front corporation for an intelnligence agency wants to be anonymous, but most businesses want customers and prospects to know about them. One important way to let people know about you is signage.

At its most basic, a sign lets the public know where a business is located. In reality, even a basic sign says more about its owner. A sign that looks bad or needs maintenance sends the message that the owner doesn't care or can't afford a decent sign. On the other hand, a classy sign indicates a classy company.

Beyond the look of a sign and marking a company location, businesses that want drop in business, those who want members of the public driving by or walking by to stop in, can use signage and the general look of the business to bring people in. Signs containing offers (Buy One Get One Free, 25% off, Sale), attractive images, or marketing messages can help bring people in.

Once people are in a business, signage can help them find the products they want. It can also direct people (restrooms, employees only) and keep them safe (exit, high voltage). In a retail environment, signs can alert customers to special deals and provide promotional images and copy.

Signs are an important marketing tool for most businesses. Think about how to best use them in your business.
